Skilled visas are activities that are carried out based on employment contracts with Japanese public institutions, private companies, etc., and engage in work that requires skilled skills belonging to a special industrial field. This does not include simple mechanical work and requires the "skilled skills" that the person has acquired through his or her own experience. Occupations that fall under a skill visa are stipulated by law and do not apply to skill visas except for the following.

Status of residence requirements for skills

Requirement 1

Performing activities that require skilled skills belonging to a special field of industry.

"Skilled skill" means a skill that is in the area of skill that an individual has acquired through the accumulation of his or her own experience.

Requirement 1

The activity of Requirement 1 shall be carried out based on a contract with a public or private institution in Japan.

Requirement 1

The applicant must fall under any of the following and receive a remuneration equal to or greater than the remuneration received when a Japanese person engages.

(1) Skills related to cooking cooking or food manufacturing that are devised in foreign countries and engage in work that requires special things in Japan and fall under any of the following

B. Persons with 10 years or more of work experience in the skill (including the period of majoring in the cooking of the cooking or manufacturing of the food at a foreign educational institution)

(B) Persons subject to the provisions of Annex 7, Part 1, Section 5, 1 (c) of the Agreement between Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand regarding Economic Cooperation

* For Thai food national qualification holders, work experience will be reduced to 5 years or more.

 

(2) Ten years of skills related to construction or civil engineering peculiar to foreign countries (five years in the case of a person who is under the direction and supervision of a foreigner who has more than ten years of work experience in work requiring the skills) Those who have the above practical experience (including the period when they majored in the subject related to architecture or civil engineering at a foreign educational institution) and engage in work requiring the skill.

 

(3) A person who has more than 10 years of practical experience in skills related to manufacturing or repairing products peculiar to a foreign country (including the period of majoring in a subject related to manufacturing or repairing the product at a foreign educational institution). ④ A person who has more than 10 years of work experience (including the period of majoring in the subject related to the processing at a foreign educational institution) regarding the skill related to the processing of gems, precious metals or fur, and engages in the work requiring the skill. thing

* Fur processing work is possible, but other leather processing work such as shoes and bags is not included.

 

⑤ Those who have more than 10 years of work experience in animal training skills (including the period when they majored in animal training subjects at a foreign educational institution) and engage in work that requires such skills.

 

⑥ More than 10 years of practical experience in skills related to seafloor excavation for oil exploration, excavation for geothermal development, or seafloor geological survey for seafloor mineral exploration (seafloor excavation for oil exploration at foreign educational institutions, geothermal heat) Those who have a period of majoring in subjects related to excavation for development or seafloor geological survey for seafloor mineral exploration) and engage in work that requires the skill.

 

⑦ A person who has a flight history of 1,000 hours or more regarding skills related to aircraft operation, and who is engaged in the air transportation business prescribed in Article 2, Paragraph 18 of the Aviation Law (Act No. 231 of 1952). ⑧ Skills related to sports instruction Three years or more of work experience (including the period of majoring in a subject related to sports instruction at a foreign educational institution and the period of engaging in the sport with compensation) Those who have the skills and are engaged in the work that requires the skills, or those who have participated in the Olympic Games, World Championships and other international competitions as sports athletes, and who need the skills to teach the sports. ⑨ 5 years or more of practical experience in skills related to appraisal, evaluation and maintenance of wine quality and provision of wine (hereinafter referred to as “wine appraisal, etc.”) Those who fall under any of the following who have (including) and engage in work that requires the relevant skill

B. Those who have achieved excellent results in competitions held on an international scale (hereinafter referred to as "international sommelier competition") related to skills related to wine appraisal, etc.

(B) Those who have participated in the International Sommelier Competition (limited to one participant per country)

(C) Skills related to wine appraisal, etc. have qualifications certified by the national government (including foreign countries), local public bodies (including foreign local public bodies), or similar public and private organizations, which are specified by the Minister of Justice by notification. person
